Art and Design stimulates creativity and imagination. It provides visual, tactile and sensory experiences and a special way of understanding and responding to the world. It enables children to communicate what they see, feel and think through the use of colour, texture, form, pattern and different materials and processes. Children become involved in shaping their environments through art and design activities. They learn to make informed judgments and aesthetic and practical decisions.
Design Technology prepares children to participate in tomorrow’s rapidly changing technologies. The subject encourages children to become creative problem solvers and thinkers, developing practical skills whilst being aware of aesthetics, functions, social and environmental issues and modern industrial practices.
Sculpture in School day
On Thursday 14th June, we had a fantastic opportunity to be the first school in the country to have a sculpture in our school for a whole day!
The Arts Council Collection installed the sculpture -
"Point x" by British Sculptor Phillip King.
The children became curators and artists for the day.
