Mrs C. Brookes - Higher Level Teaching Assistant - (PPA Cover).

Our Classroom:

Every class at Pinders Primary School has adopted a class book. In Year 3, we have adopted the book Swiss Family Robinson by Johann David Wyss and have used the ideas in the book to transform our learning environment into New Switzerland, the island setting of Swiss Family Robinson.

Curriculum:

Autumn - Ruthless Romans.

Spring -  Window On The World.

Summer - Invaders and Settlers.

Home Learning:

Home reading: Your child will be issued with a home reading book and reading record book. This book should be read daily and changed weekly. It is also important that this book is brought to school daily as your child will also read their book with Mr Firth regularly.

Read and Respond: This year, school will be starting Read and Respond lessons. Each week your child will be issued with a chapter of a text to read. It is of critical importance that your child reads this before our Read and Response lesson, otherwise they will be unable to access the lesson.

Times tables: By the end of Year 3 children are expected to know their 3, 4 and 8 times tables along with their 2's, 5's and 10's which they learnt in Year 2. Remember your child has access to Times Table Rock Stars to assist in learning their times tables.

Maths and English homework: Homework is given out on a Friday and is due on back in school the following Wednesday.

Spellings: Each week children will take home 10 spellings to learn for the following week. They should use their spelling dictionary to learn these words at home.

PE

Children are expected to bring their PE kits on a Monday and take them home on a Friday. Whilst we will have regular PE slots, children should still have their kit in school at all times.

Educational Visits and Events:

Murton Park - Visiting a Roman Auxilliary fort from the 1st Century AD. A Roman centurion is looking for new recruits experience a rigorous introduction to life in the Roman army!
