5. Develop pronunciation and intonation

Year 3 - accurately pronounce individual word, drawing on knowledge of some important graphemes.

 

Year 4 - read aloud a short familiar phrase or sentence with accurate pronunciation, drawing on knowledge of pronunciation patterns, such as silent letters and graphemes.

 

Year 5 - readily apply previously learned pronunciation rules, working out how to pronounce new words:  use intonation correctly when asking question or expressing opinion.
