Music in Reception

In the first half of the autumn term the children in Reception have been learning a selection of simple songs - building up a repetoire of songs that they can sing. They enjoyed learning the songs 'Pat a Cake', '1,2,3,4,5' and '5 Little Ducks'.

They also learnt a variety of action songs to join in with. Their favouirte was called 'Things for Fingers'!

At the start of each music lesson the children enjoyed listening to a piece of famous music. They talked about what they could hear. Can they hear any instruments? Can they hear any singing? Do they like the music? Why? Their faviourite piece this term in 'Our House' by Madness!

The children have also been exploring 'pulse'. They have enjoyed finding the 'heart beat of the music' using their bodies and untuned percussion instruments.
