Our School Rules

We are safe

We are respectful

We are ready to learn

Keep up to date on our Twitter page to find out more about our learning!

Check our Twitter page (@PindersPrimary) weekly for lots of photographs of our learning!

Help your child reach our reading target each week by listening to them read each day & signing their reading record. Ideally, reading books should be read at home EVERY DAY if possible. Can your child read the book independently? Can your child answer questions about the book? Can they read with expression and fluency? Each week if your child has read at least 4 times at home they will receive a reading raffle ticket which could win them a book at the end of the half term!

Each night your child will come home with a reading book and we ask that you listen to your child read every night and enjoy reading together. We also encourage children to read other books as well as their school reading book to foster a love of reading. Help us reach our reading at home target each week by listening to your child read each day and signing their reading record. Each week if your child has read at least 4 times at home they will also receive a raffle ticket.

Phonics Screening Test

UPDATE: This year's phonics screening test has been cancelled. Your child will complete the test in the Autumn term when they are in year 2. Any questions please do not hesitate to contact Miss Farrah.

In the summer term of Year One, your child will complete a phonic screening test. This is a word reading test that takes between 2 and 5 minutes. It is a good indication of your child's reading progress and any child that does not pass the bench mark will be given extra support and a chance to resit the test in Year Two. Your child will receive daily phonics lessons and lots of practice of similar tests throughout the year. If you have any questions regarding the phonics screening test, please do not hesitate to contact Miss Farrah.

Please watch this short clip to find out more about the Phonics Screening Test. Please note we do not teach the Read, Write Inc. approach.
