In Year 3/4, we have adopted the author Eva Ibbotson and have used the ideas from her novel 'Journey to the River Sea' as our classroom theme so we have transformed our learning environment into the the Amazon Rainforest.
Autumn - Stone Age to Iron Age
Spring - Ancient Greece
Summer - Local Area
Home reading: Your child will be issued with a home reading book and reading record book. This book should be read daily and changed often. It is also important that this book is brought to school every day as your child will read with an adult in class.
Read and Respond: Each week your child will be issued with a chapter of a text to read. It is of critical importance that your child reads this before our Read and Response lesson, otherwise they will be unable to access the lesson. This year our first text is Wreck of the Zanzibar by Michael Morpurgo.
Times tables:
Maths and English homework: Homework is given out on a Tuesday and is due on back in school by the following Tuesday.
Spellings: Every Friday children will take home 10 spellings to learn for the following week.
Children are expected to wear their PE kit to school on PE Days. In Summer 2 we will have two outdoor PE slots, one on a Thursday morning and the second on a Friday morning.
