Our Reading incentives

Throughout school we have a range of reading incentives in order to encourage our pupils to read regularly at home. Each class has their own interactive reading chart to help pupils track their home reading throughout the week. The aim is for every child to read at home at least 4 times a week, but we strive for all children to be reading daily.

Children are encouraged to work as a class to hit a weekly class target of 80%+ of children reading 4 or more times at home.

Those classes who achieve the 80% target choose a new book for their classroom. The class with the highest percentage across all of the classes receive a special golden book which has been pre-ordered by from a book wish list that the class wrote themselves at the start of the year.

The class reading achievements are celebrated during our celebration assemblies and are then displayed on a central display board outside of the school hall.
