20/21 - Y6 have enjoyed singing a range of songs using sign language along side.
African Djembe drums
Year 5 have enjoyed their first session of Djembe drums. Djembe rhythms come from Mali and Guinea in Africa. We’ve been discussing the pitch and dynamics of the music we have played today.
Year 5 are progressing in our Djembe drum skills. Today we have been playing ostinatos (repeating musical phrases) in small groups then layering the different sounds to create one rhythm.
Call and response
Year 5 have mastered the art of call and response in our Djembe drumming music session. Can you hear all the different rhythms?
Year 5 practised rumbling with the African drums.
Once we had the hang of using a rumble, we added it our stacking of the Djembe rhythms.
Year 5 have been working on our harmonising skills
Year 6 using Boomwhackers.
