Primary School P.E. and Sport Funding 2019/2020
Most schools with primary-age pupils receive the PE and sport premium. Schools receive this funding based on the number of pupils in years 1 to 6. Schools with 17 or more eligible pupils receive £8,000 and an additional payment of £5 per pupil. The funding comes directly into school and they have the freedom to spend it as they feel will most benefit the children in their school. School Leaders and Governing Bodies are accountable for the impact of this spending.
This year we have a Gymnastics Specialist working with class teachers to support them with the planning of gymnastics and Sports Coaches coming into school to work with teachers and lead lunchtime activities and after school clubs. In addition, we take Year 4 to Sun Lane Pool for swimming lessons each week as opposed to 1 year group, which was the traditional model at our school. Although this is a more expensive option, it means that children have more opportunity to develop their swimming than was the case in the past.
We also have a fantastic forest schools curriculum enabling al lour children to complete topic base learning but in the great outdoors.
We will be taking part in various inter-school sports events this academic year!
In 2019-20, we are continuing to provide after-school clubs free of charge to the children.
