Our classroom environment.

This year, the Year 5 classroom is themed on the book Bloom by Nicola Skinner

Important Information

Spring Term 2 -

We currently have PE on a Wednesday and Swimming/PE on Thursday. 

Each week, on a Friday, ten spellings will be taught and sent home. Is is vital that these spellings are practised at home so that children are able to apply the correct spellings and rules to their writing. Spelling tests are every Friday. 

Our class read and respond lessons will be on a Friday this half term, please ensure you have read the relevant page numbers at home in preparation for this learning session. 

Home reading is extremely important, try reading every day at home- even if it's for a short period of time each day as this will add up over the week and help to improve reading fluency. Our school reading target is to aim for 70% of children in each class to read at least 4 times at home. If we reach our target, we will receive a silver book, which enables us to choose a new book for our classroom. If we achieve the highest percentage in school, we will receive a gold book, which allows us to win one of the golden books we have chosen as a class. 

Autumn Term Topic.

Our first topic for Autumn term will be Poppies, Peace and Power. We will be visiting Eden Camp in Malton as a stimulus for our topic.

Spring Term Topic.

Our topic for Spring term will be Natural Disasters. As part of our learning we will be going to Magna Science Adventure Centre.

Summer Term Topic

Our topic for Summer term will be Space. For the first time Pinders Primary, will be visiting The National Space Centre in Leicester! Mission Accepted!
